How to make a QR code
- Paste a web address or type any text into the box.
- Pick a size and colors. Dark code on a light background scans best.
- Click Download PNG, then test the code with your phone before you print it.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make.
Does my text or link get uploaded anywhere?
No. The code is built in your browser, so what you type stays on your device.
Will the QR code expire?
No. These are static QR codes. The link or text is stored in the image itself, so the code keeps working as long as the destination does. The trade-off is that you can't change where it points after printing.
What size should I download?
For screens, 512 px is plenty. For print, download 1024 px and print the code at least 2 cm (0.8 inch) wide.
Which colors scan reliably?
Use strong contrast with the code darker than the background. Light codes on dark backgrounds fail on some scanners, and low-contrast pairs often fail on all of them.
What does error correction do?
It adds redundancy so the code still scans when part of it is dirty, damaged or covered by a logo. Higher levels make the code denser. Medium suits most uses.
